Boredom Strikes Again….

In preparation for promming on Saturday I’ve been making some of my famous (LOL) gingerbread Doctors. Got ever so slightly bored with the repetitiveness of the icicng them so decided to do a few companions instead……

And this is in no way a companion, but I’ve been baking all day and have gone a little loopy and there were a few spare ginerbread men…

The 11 Gingerbread Doctors

Here is the recipe for the gingerbread Doctors I made along with close up pictures of the original batch.

350g plain flour

175g light brown sugar

100g butter

1 egg

1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

1 tsp ground ginger

4 tblsp golden syrup

I’m not so great at doing things step by step, I’m far to impatient for that, so I bung it all in a bow at once and mix it with my hands. Once you’ve got a nice dough, roll out it out so its roughly half a centimere thick and use a cookie cutter.

Bake for about 15 mins at Gas mark 5 (I think that’s about 190 degrees Celsius), check after 10 minutes.

All that’s left is to decorate them! But be warned spending 10 hours doing it can cause repetitive strain injury!!

The Eleventh Hour Launch Party, London

Yesterday saw the launch of Series 5 / 31 / 1 / Fnarg of Doctor Who and the introduction of Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor. There was a specail launch event in London, which I managed to get tickets for.

My recent discovery that I could make gingerbread and ice them like the different incarnations of The Doctor led me to make 6 little versions of each Doctor. That’s 66 gingerbread men in total. I’m surprised my hands didn’t drop off! It took me about 10 hours to bake and ice them all and here are the results:

They seemed to go pretty well and I managed to get rid of them all! Even the event organiser said they were good and Toby Hadoke (http://www.tobyhadoke.com/) took one, although he said he couldn’t eat it because he was on a diet! Katy Manning was at the event, but I was too much of a wimp to offer her a gingerbread Pertwee! 😛

As well as the gingerbread Doctors I also took along The Cupcakes of Rassilon (see previous post )

I wasn’t the only one to take baked goods along to the Launch Party. We met up with @DoktorWatson who had made a brilliant army of Dalek biscuits:

I have found one tweet already from someone I didn’t know saying:

“Someone at the #doctorwho do last night made gingerbread Doctors. I love her.”
